TopCow®
Boost

Pre-Calving 1 Post-Calving 2 Early Lactation 3 Mid Lactation 4 Late Lactation 5 Dry Cow 6

High protein dairy ration designed to support a cow’s requirements when pasture quality is limiting.

Recommended for Stage 4 Mid Lactation and Stage 5 Late Lactation.

  • High in both rumen degradable protein and rumen undegraded protein
  • Combines starch, sugars and proteins from high quality vegetable meals to support an environment in which rumen bugs grow
  • Supports milk production and tissue growth through pasture’s reproductive phase and dry spells.

TopCow® Boost is a market leading, high protein ration for mid-lactation dairy cows. TopCow® Boost combines a high quality mix of vegetable protein meals, vitamins and minerals into a nutrient dense pellet. This combination provides both rumen degradable protein (RDP) and rumen undegraded protein (RUP) during periods where pasture quality is poor, thus supporting continued milk production during late spring and the summer months.

Including TopCow® Boost in the cow’s diet will provide additional dry matter (DM) along with high quality proteins that ensure continued growth of rumen bugs. Large quantities of RUP will also support tissue development and assist lactating cows to partition dietary energy into milk solids production.

What do your cows need now?

During mid to late lactation the requirement for high quality, nutrient dense rations remains. It is over this time that pasture becomes reproductive and neutral detergent fibre (NDF) increases, while available RUP and sugar reduces.

Fermentable carbohydrate requirement remains high through this period for the continued support of rumen bug activity and for maintaining milk solids production. The requirement for glucose is also important for cows under heat stress conditions, so maintaining starch in the ration is essential in maintaining body condition.

It is important over this period that forage neutral detergent fibre digestibility (NDFD) does not get out of control or create gut-fill without meeting necessary nutrient requirements. Incorporating plenty of RUP into the diet at this time will manipulate metabolic pathways to ensure that not all energy is going into body condition, therefore sustaining continued milk solids production.

USAGE RATES

TopCow® Boost usage rates will vary according to forage availability, breed of cow, stage of lactation and milk solids production.
